Three Reasons I Already Love Nova Scotia

You should be thinking ‘but Tracy, you haven’t even been to Nova Scotia yet!’  And of course you’d be right.  But today I found three reasons to fall in love before first sight.

Reason #1:  The Doers and Dreamers Guide.

The photo at the top of this post is a photo I just took of all of the tourist info I received in the mail today.  All I had to do was go to the Nova Scotia tourism webiste and request the literature I desired, and they sent it to me.  Free of charge.  I kind of feel like I should pay someone, somehow.  Even just for the postage.  I will spend hours pouring over said literature, and I’m so excited about it!

Reason #2: The Taste of Nova Scotia (free) App.

I left my husband alone with all of the above information and five minutes later he came into the office to show me the app he just downloaded that goes along with the Doers and Dreamers Guide.  It has GPS built in, so we can ‘allow’ our location when we are there and it will give us dining, lodging, and ‘things to do’ options.  Did I mention that it was free?

Reason #3:  The amazingly awesome person named Vanessa who gave me personalized Halifax advice.

If you check out the comments section of my ‘The Plan’ post, you will find an incredibly detailed, incredibly thoughtful comment from a reader named Vanessa.  She lives in Halifax, somehow knows exactly the kind of experience we are looking for, and was willing to take time out of her busy day to share it with me.  If the people of Nova Scotia are half as kind and friendly and helpful as Vanessa, we may never come home!

  1. Aw thanks, I’m glad you liked my suggestions! Our independent newspaper today came out with their hot summer guide, and I thought it may give you some extra ideas. It’s less polished than doers and dreamers guide, but it still may inspire you:

    • See–and you continue to be helpful! That guide looks great, and as of now I only had the time to scan the headlines (though I will be pouring over it when I get home from work tonight). I’m getting more and more excitd about Halifax–and Nova Scotia as a whole–and only wish we could spend more time there. But then, if we spent as much time as I’d like in each place we are visiting, we’d be gone for a year! As it is, when I tell people we’re going for a month they look at me funny!
